About Palestine Truth

    Who we are, where our facts come from, how often we check them, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

    What this site is

    Palestine Truth is an independent educational website about Palestinian history and the present-day situation in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. It brings documented events, figures and legal rulings together in one place and links each one to the source it came from. We are based in Ireland.

    Our perspective

    We are not neutral about human rights. We believe Palestinians are entitled to equality, safety and self-determination under international law, and this site is written from that position. Because we are open about our view, we cite everything: you should be able to check every claim yourself, including against sources that disagree with us.

    How we source facts

    Every figure and claim on this site links to a named source. We rank sources in three tiers and prefer the highest tier available:

    Tier 1: Primary and institutional

    UN bodies (OCHA, OHCHR, UNRWA, WHO, UNICEF), International Court of Justice rulings, UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, and peer-reviewed research such as The Lancet.

    Tier 2: Human rights organisations and historians

    B'Tselem, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Al-Haq, and published historians (Palestinian, Israeli and others), cited to a specific book or report.

    Tier 3: Journalism and testimony

    Named news reports and first-hand testimony. We always label these as reports, not established fact.

    Where sources disagree, we give the range and say who reports each figure. Casualty figures for Gaza come from the Gaza Ministry of Health, and we say so each time they appear, alongside UN and academic assessments. We never estimate a number we cannot source.     How we keep figures current

    Headline statistics and news are reviewed on a regular schedule. Every page that shows time-sensitive figures says when they were last checked, and adds a warning when that check is more than 30 days old. Headline statistics: Last updated 26 September 2026.

    Corrections

    If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change with the date it was made. Corrections are listed on the item that was corrected.
